About the instructor:

Hailey is a watermedia artist, working in watercolor, watercolor batik, ink, and acrylic. Growing up in Korea, she painted on and off since she was seven. She came to the United States in 1996 for graduate studies and received her PhD at Texas A&M University, College Station, in 2004. She worked as a research scientist and lecturer at Virginia Commonwealth University for a short term. Some time later, she began to take community art classes. In 2010, she started painting watercolor in earnest.

Hailey loves the watercolor medium for layering, colors, and transparency which appeals to her sense of spontaneity. Her watercolors are vibrant, bright and rich with incredible depth and wonderful tonal ranges. With abounding color and vibrant beauty, her art has found a home in many private and public collections around the world.

Hailey loves learning new techniques and experimentation. She is not content with a particular style but wants to evolve continually. She loves to enrich her creativity and artistic vision through continued experimentation. Her painting “Street Art Fair” won “Best of Show” in the 2012 BVAL Judged show, “Klein Pulse Comp” won “First Place” in the 2013 BVAL Judged show. Also, “Happy Hour” won the “Herweck’s Award” in the 2012 Texas Watercolor Society Annual Exhibition. “Klein Pulse Comp” was exhibited in the WAS-H 36th International Exhibition, 2013, “Serenity Koi” in the WAS-H 37th International Exhibition, 2014, and “Autumn Epilogue” in the WAS-H 38th International Exhibition, 2015.
