In this three dimensional clay building class, we will work on the basics that will lead to individual open ended projects. We will be learning to operate a slab roller and add texture with different materials. We will also be learning how to glaze the work to be decorative and functional. The functional pieces will be microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe, perfect for keeping or gift giving.
Hand building classes are taught to all levels. Pinch pots, coil pots, and slab-built techniques combine to create original imaginative pieces. A broad pallet of glazes is available to the hand builder and a variety of glazing techniques is within reach of the student. Cups, bowls, plates, sculptures and other decorative and artful pieces are among the work the students will make.
For the first six weeks, students will learn basic techniques and produce a project each lesson. This class is intended to engage the students and challenge them to move forward toward their creative goals.
