Printmaking and Bookmaking

Mixed Media & Book Arts Studio introduces students to the exploration of layered artwork and handmade books through a variety of traditional and experimental techniques. This class emphasizes both creative expression and craftsmanship while combining multiple media. Key modules include:

• Mixed Media Techniques: Explore collage, printmaking, painting, and drawing to create rich, layered compositions
• Collage & Composition: Learn how to combine imagery, texture, and materials to build visually engaging artwork
• Printmaking Processes: Experiment with techniques such as relief printing and monoprinting to add depth and repetition
• Painting Exploration: Develop skills in color mixing, brushwork, and surface development using a variety of paint media
• Bookbinding Fundamentals: Create a range of handmade books including zines, envelope books, lunch bag books, and sewn bindings
• Surface & Texture Development: Incorporate found materials and mark-making to enhance visual interest and storytelling
• Creative Storytelling Through Books: Use book forms as a vehicle for narrative, sequencing, and personal expression
• Studio Practice & Craftsmanship: Build skills in material handling, construction, and attention to detail
