Comic Book Creation & Visual Storytelling introduces students to the art of sequential storytelling as they develop their own original comic books from concept to completion. This class blends illustration techniques with narrative development to bring ideas to life. Key modules include:

  • Story Development: Learn how to create engaging plots, pacing, and story arcs for compelling comics
  • Character Design: Develop unique characters with attention to personality, expression, and visual identity
  • Sequential Art & Paneling: Understand how to structure pages, use panels effectively, and guide the viewer’s eye
  • Drawing Fundamentals for Comics: Apply skills in anatomy, proportion, and gesture to create dynamic figures
  • Perspective & Environment Design: Build believable settings using perspective techniques and thoughtful composition
  • Inking & Illustration Techniques: Explore line quality, shading, and finishing methods to enhance visual storytelling
  • 2D Puppet Creation: Design and construct a movable 2D character puppet based on original designs to explore pose, movement, and storytelling in a hands-on format
