July 11, 6:00-9:00
Join us for a fun evening creating soap, in a relaxed and stress-free environment, with instructor Vanessa Taraba. She will introduce you to the basics of making soap from scratch, and safely demonstrate this using High Temperature Hot Process (HTHP) methods.
Then, she will guide you through the process of creating your own individual soaps with previously saponified soap using melt and pour methods. You will learn how to use inidividual soap molds, embeds of small soap shapes, botanicals, fragrances or essential oils, and colorants. You will have the time and freedom to design your own soap, and she will walk with you through the process.
Seasonally, the soap-making classes will have themes, demonstration loaves will be different every time, and materials available will vary. The focus in the summer will be exfoliating and skin polishing soaps. In the fall, the class will transistion to extra moisturizing ingredients and soap as gift ideas.
All materials are supplied; however, you are welcome to bring your own essential oils, if there is a particular blend you prefer. Included in the class fee, you will take home a bar of soap from the loaf that Vanessa demos in the beginning of class, as well as three more soaps that you design and create. If time allows, you can make additional soaps for only $5 per bar.
Finished products will be packaged after cooling, and will be available for pickup 48 hours after class during normal studio hours.
