This is an introductory class to the graphic art of Printmaking. In this class we will be learning four basic techniques including Relief Printing, Watercolor Monoprint, Plexiglass Intaglio Printing and Reductive Mono Prints as well as simple book binding.
Printmaking is versatile and can be used in a number of applications including bookmaking, graphic design and apparel design. The course will focus on the concept of developing multiple images and creating small “editions” of prints. Students will also be introduced to the historical background and the impact of printmaking.
As a final project students will develop an image using their favorite class technique and print a number of prints to share with class members. Students will then take those prints and bind them into a small book giving them a collection of prints to take home.
